A short trip to Edamalayar and Bhutankatte

It was fine saturday afternoon, after my lunch , labeeb rang me for planning a short trip for tomorrow .No new places came in mind and told him to google it.Suddenly after a few minutes he called me again for giving me a suprise spot Edamalayar, normally had seen this name attached to a name of a corrupted politician for his monetary scandals.I never had a second thought as i continued with my studies .After reaching labeeb room in aluva ,as usual long talk never reaching any consense ,slept till morning 7 am.I had my bath ,My usual jeans with a white T-Shirt and labeeb quite prepared for a adventureous journey dressed in a casual check shirts and long blue jeans.

We headed towards Aluva Town to Perambavoor Road.I pulled over for petrol, I had full confidence in my bike except the oil factor niggling in my head.I accosted the petrol guy telling him to put for Rs 200,My voice was misinterpreted by him for 100 ,he put me for Rs 100,OK.Thinking its only 50km ahead i just accepted it with a hope reaching our destination with no more thinking about petrol factor.Road was well maintained in these areas ,very often with speed breakers ,humps .

Being its a sunday ,i found many car parked in front of Church's in perumbavoor-kothamangalam route .Hardly few shops were open ,delighted to see a Karnataka Udipi hotel - i made a sudden surprise making labeeb to stop for breakfast. He continued with a sarcastic comment"you-Karnataka" made me to delay breakfast to some more time.

As we were approaching the Bhootankette ,we wer able to see a shift in urban to rural setting of Kerala,Rice ,Coconut ,Banana cultivation dominated these areas. A bridge was greeted by gate like structure in front we had sighed our selves in reaching the first destination .He was friegthend in parking the bike in the bridge as i insisted him ,finally to surrender me ,We took some snaps and a very impressed by the panoramic view of the dam.Water was allowed to flow to other side through a small orifice .We met an ice-cream vendor and a local guy for our queries regarding the distance, road and list of others places to our wacthlist.

We entered to the forest entrance ,My feeling suddenly getting changed as we approached a calm ,peaceful road ,mind getting filled with incidents that might confront us in this lonely area.I could only distinguish Teak and no other tree was familiar for me .After a few km ahead ,delighted to see the first yellow building with a man having his news time on paper. It was long time from now i saw another building .The climate was cool and birds sounds filled with a pleasant hope ,hardly any bikes passed by .We came across a van filled with a many family members enjoying themselves ,as we overtook them we reached a closed gate. This raised question regarding my entry into dam need any permission?.But the police greeted us with a gentle smile and very happy to see two young guys .

After our entry to the main gate,we reached the Edamalayar dam-A beautiful artificial dam across the river .The dam was not filled to maximum limit making other side dry as no water could reach. The water was clear i saw many small boats made of bamboos used by workers for collecting bamboo. The just sit in the bamboo boat ,mostly from karnataka ,as i thought sitting in it will be dangerous.

Permission was not granted to enter the gate ,entry was restricted for KSEB workers. We walked down to the lake discussing concerns about ecosystem affected by building a dam.We had kappa and half baked beef ,i was feeling nauseate and even he didn't left any ..

Some facts about dam was revealed by a guy from Nilambur ,had come for bamboo business for paper factory. As the time approached 11 we made a fine exit from dam heading to bhootatankette.

The way to bhoothankette -- a small pavement in a forest filled with a sudden feeling of being trapped ,as we moved could never see any people and the sound was absolute silent. The point we reached a turn in the way,we could never distinguish the front way it was almost covered by thick small trees. We thought of making a reverse as its said "a reverse is never an option " made us to move forward.

We were able to hear some human voice .filled with a relaxed mood we reached a area filled with rocks and water making its way in between. We had some rest in the rocks as other visitors enjoyed the nature and the belief that this place was made by a ghost made them quite eagerness in knowing this place.

We left this place quiet early before the zuhar to reach aluva by 2:00 pm.
